A premium sun-dried red tea from ancient tea trees (Gu Shu), aged around 150 years. Grown in a high-mountain tea garden on the slopes of Jinuo Mountain (Jinuo Shan, 基诺山), this tea benefits from a pristine environment and a nutrient-rich root system, which enhances the depth and complexity of the leaves.

Origin

Jinuo Mountain, also known as Youle Shan (攸乐), is part of the Six Famous Tea Mountains of Yunnan. It is located near Jinghong, the capital of Xishuangbanna Prefecture.

What Makes This Tea Special?

Unlike classic Dian Hong red teas, this Shai Hong undergoes final sun-drying instead of drying in an oven. This method preserves more aromatic compounds, moisture, and enzymes, leading to a fruity, honeyed complexity. Over time, it matures beautifully, gaining more depth, softness, and richness, much like a Sheng Pu-erh.

Tasting Notes

Aroma
Delicate, with notes of fruit, flowers, and pastry sweetness.

Taste
Balanced and full-bodied, with a gentle sweetness. Hints of baked fruit, chocolate, and a fresh, enveloping aftertaste. As it ages, the tea develops a smoother, richer profile.

Effect
Warming, gently energizing, and focusing.

Harvest

First Spring Flush 2023, Jinuo Mountain (Youle), Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China.

Brewing Suggestions

Best teaware: We recommend using a Yixing clay teapot for a richer, more rounded taste.

🔄 Gongfu brewing:

  • 5–6g per 100ml of water.
  • First steep: 3–5 seconds.
  • Use boiling water.
  • Multiple short infusions.

🔥 Traditional boiling method (Lu Yu style):

  • Perfect for extracting the full strength of aroma and effect.
  • Best enjoyed slowly, ideally with friends and loved ones.

Enjoy your tea experience! 🍵✨
